heraldsun.com.au Herald Sun, Friday, January 11, 2013 37 + + FB123 C M Y K DHS 11-JAN-2013 PAGE 37 FIRST The heat's on: Hurdler Tuscan Fire is racing well, and should go close in race three at Flemington tomorrow. Picture: MARK DADSWELL .com.au TODAY Mornington P52 TONIGHT Cranbourne P41 TOMORROW Flemington P39 TOMORROW Rosehill P38 ADAM'S MULTI DOUBLE TUSCAN FIRE $2.10 Flemington R3, No.5 Star jumper who is flying on the flat. Bolted in here last start and will be even harder to beat over more ground. Looks a great anchor for your multi bets. BRITISH GENERAL $2.90 Flemington R6, No.9 Also flying, having won his past two here over the track and distance. Will be very hard to catch again. MULTI ODDS: $6.09 Flemington tomorrow TRACK: Dead (4) FIRST RACE: 12.35pm FEATURE AUSTRALIAN RACES 3.45pm: $1m Magic Millions Guineas (1400m, 3yo), Gold Coast 3.55pm: $121,000 Listed Chester Manifold Stakes (1400m), Flemington 4.25pm: $2m Magic Millions Two- Year-Old Classic (1200m), Gold Coast 5.10pm: $400,000 Magic Millions Cup (1400m), Gold Coast COVERAGE: TV: Channel 9 (Magic Millions). Foxtel --- 519 Sky Racing 1, 521 Sky Racing World, 522 TVN. RADIO: RSN (927) WHO'S HOT BALLARAT trainer Dan O'Sullivan (right) has made an exceptional start to the year, saddling up five runners for three winners and a second. The horses that supplied him with a double on New Year's Day at Flemington --- star jumper TUSCAN FIRE (R3, No.5) and BRITISH GENERAL (R6 No.9) --- will look to repeat the feat tomorrow at the same track. Both are short-priced favourites. Tuscan Fire is racing in great form on the flat, while British General has won his past two starts over 1400m at Flemington and will take catching again from barrier one. Michael Manley HARNESS HOTSHOTS HIS biggest tests are two months away, but I Didnt Do It (right) can confirm his place at the top of Australia's squaregaiting tree at Bendigo tomorrow night. The Merv Williamson-trained frontrunner has earned his place as the nation's leading trotter after wins in the Bill Collins Mile and Dullard Cup, both at Group 1. Now he must maintain the rage in the Maori Mile, in which he faces fellow Group 1 winner Vulcan and rising Kiwi star My Escapee. The Maori Mile is the latest stepping stone for I Didnt Do It before March's inaugural Great Southern Star series at Tabcorp Park. There he will meet I Can Doosit, Stig and European star Ridgehead Cahore for a purse of $350,000. HARNESS HOTLINE PAGE 45 TAB JACKPOTS TOMORROW night's Bendigo meeting will have a $25,000 quaddie pool jackpot between races 4-7, with the first leg at 8pm. TAB has changed the quaddie legs for tonight's WA Pacing Cup meeting at Gloucester Park to races 5-6-7-8. THE EARLY OIL 1 A guessing game with the youngsters, with some well-bred fillies from top stables making their debuts. Peter Moody has THERMAL CURRENT (3) who is bred for speed, being by Exceed And Excel from a good race mare. John Sadler's MISS FUNOVITS (10) is a half sister to Chase The Rainbow. MOUNT ZERO (4), ISOLATION (5) and MINAJ (6) have all shown ability. SUGGESTED BET: Watch for any betting moves. TAB FIXED ODDS MARKET MOVERS: Nil. 2 Looks an ideal race for GENUINE SPIN (3). Won impressively second- up at Moonee Valley last start, making a long run then sprinting clear. Won by four lengths this track and distance last time in on slow track. STREETS OF SEATTLE (4) is racing well. After the 3kg claim for Damien Thornton, will carry only 51.5kg. WARWARICK (6) gave away a big start in the Bagot. Ran home fairly well but not as impressively as at her previous two wins. Drop in distance and class will suit. MANILA JEWEL (1) is consistent. SUGGESTED BET: Genuine Spin the win. TAB FIXED ODDS MARKET MOVERS: Nil. 3 Top hurdler TUSCAN FIRE (5) is racing in great fashion on the flat. His past six starts over 2000m or further on the flat have produced four wins and two seconds. He bolted in over 2000m here on New Year's Day when he led throughout. MODULE (2) likes it here and won the Bagot in good style. 3kg claim for Thornton has him in with 56.6kg. Peter Moody's MACEDONIAN (1) is a capable stayer and the step up to 2500m will suit. CRAFTY CRUISER (3) is consistent and always a chance in this type of race. SUGGESTED BET: Tuscan Fire the win. TAB FIXED ODDS MARKET MOVERS: Nil. 4 OCTAVIA (2) is promising. At Moonee Valley last start, she worked to the lead from an outside draw and comfortably held off subsequent Caulfield runner-up Nella Fantasia. Drops back to 1000m but should get a good cart along, with another last- start Valley winner, the speedy LAMINGTONS (1), likely to lead. THE EMPRESS (9) gave away a big start at Caulfield but ran home nicely. ACT TWO (6) ran well in the same race to finish second, after leading for most of the race. DOUBLE DEE (8) and AGULHAS (4) have ability. SUGGESTED BET: Octavia the win. TAB FIXED ODDS MARKET MOVERS: Nil. 5 Open event with every runner having claims. Veteran CHASM (3) returned to form when a good fourth behind British General here last start. Showed a lot more zest and the step up to 1600m suits. Finished a close third in the Emirates Stakes this track and distance in 2010. SUSSURO (13) is a smart mare. Finished well first-up and has a nice weight of 54kg. OVER QUOTA (2) won this race last year and will be suited by step up to 1600m. BOLTON (7) is better than recent form and is also suited by 1600m. ZABISCO (8) and BOOM 'N' ZOOM (5) are the next best. SUGGESTED BET: Chasm each-way. TAB FIXED ODDS MARKET MOVERS: Nil. 6 BRITISH GENERAL (9) has won his past two starts over this track and distance and has everything tailor-made to make it a hat-trick. Again carries 54kg and this time has barrier one. Ran a fast time last start and should be able to dominate again from the front. DASH FOR VIZ (11) finished second behind British General last start. Raced handy and finished well after being held up. BIG BUDDIE (10) has been racing well and 1400m should suit. FUTURE SOLUTION (8) won well over this track and distance last start. Next best, if they are swooping, is BY THE WAY (6). SUGGESTED BET: British General the win. TAB FIXED ODDS MARKET MOVERS: British General $2.70 out to $2.90; Under the Eiffel $7 out to $8; Dash For Viz $7.50 out to $8.50. 7 GIG (6) made it two from two down the straight with an impressive win last start when second-up. IT IS WRITTEN (2) is racing well and fought on strongly when just beaten at Moonee Valley. The Danny Williams pair of WAR CHARM (7) and DECEIVER (8) have ability. MELIORA (13) led throughout to win against her own age last start at Moonee Valley. RED RAIN (11) and CAVALLO NERO (5) next best. SUGGESTED BET: Gig the win. TAB FIXED ODDS MARKET MOVERS: Nil. 8 BACKBONE (3) resumed with a good run-on effort to finish second behind Genuine Spin at Moonee Valley. Goes well second-up and step up to 1800m and Flemington will suit. GIRL GONE ROCKIN (11) got swamped last start at the Valley when she looked to have race won. RAHVEEL (5) ran home nicely for fourth at Moonee Valley. CLASSIC ELLE (8) and HE'S A STEAL (4) are the next best. SUGGESTED BET: Backbone each-way. TAB FIXED ODDS MARKET MOVERS: Nil. MICHAEL MANLEY'S TIPS BEST BET: BRITISH GENERAL (R6 No.9) QUADDIE: 2,3,4,5,7,8,13 / 9,11 / 2,6,7,8,11,13 / 3,5,8,11. Cost: $100 for 29.76 per cent. BEST VALUE: CHASM (R5 No.3) BIG 6: 2,5 / 2,9 / 2,3,4,5,7,8,13/9/ 2,6,7,8,11,13 / 3,5,8,11. Cost: $100 for 14.88 per cent.
