An outstanding Kiwi who's won 13 races, he's been prominent and close up in recent runs behind I Can Doosit, Stig Sovereignty and My Escapee in recent runs and from a good front line draw, they'll have a job beating him. A Mark Purdon trainee, his standing start record is exemplary with 9 wins from 14 tries. DANGER: ALEPPO MIDAS (6) has as much talent as any Australian squaregaiter and her only recent failures have been when lining up behind the mobile. Wins from 30 metres behind at Bendigo and Maryborough were followed by a Cobram failure when knocked down in the mobile, then she equalled the 2200 metre stand track record for both gaits on this circuit when coming from 40 behind to beat dual winner since Arctic Wolf here. Done no favours by drawing the pole, she galloped in the score up and tailed out in last week's mobile George Gath at Shepparton. A clean beginning will see her hard to hold out. OTHERS: KASYANOV NZ (3) was an impressive second to Aleppo Sunrise in a Melton FFA when in the breeze an fighting on like a caged lion before again working to a spot outside leader Our Dolly Would in the SA Trotters Cup a fortnight ago when a gallant second to that mare. VULCAN NZ (11) hasn't raced as well this season as when he was prominent in the Interdominion and won the Dullard Cup here last term, but this talented Kiwi looks well graded against these and as the winner of eight of his 17 standing start tries, is suited by the conditions. EARL OF MOT NZ (7) can be iffy from the stand but if he goes away with them, he'll be prominent on his impressive death seat third to I Didnt Do It in last week's Shepparton George Gath. BELLINGHAM NZ (9), who's won two recent standing start Country Cups, is a blowout chance. RATINGS:1/6/3,11/7/9. SUGGESTED BET: DR HOOK NZ (1) to win. TOP PICK: An open race for the mares where LOMBO SLEEK STREAK (5) looks hard to beat. She worked hard in the lead when a close third in a heat of the Central Victorian Championship first up at Charlton three weeks ago, then sped out of the gate to find the top when setting a new Charlton track record a fortnight ago, running 1:56 for the sprint trip. She has gate speed and as the likely leader, will be hard to run down. DANGER: BLAZEAWAY MACRAY (3) is a quality young mare who was placed at the top level in two Breeders Crown heats late last season, had no luck in her semi final, then beat PAINTBALL (9) in the consolation at her latest outing five months ago. She's done well in recent trials and draws for first up success. OTHERS: REAL BONUS (6) was just below the top level of fillies last season but has resumed well as four year old with an all the way first up Bendigo victory followed by an easy 1:56.1 sprint success there recently. PAINTBALL (9) has been runner up at her last four starts and deserves a victory. A close and luckless second to BLAZEAWAY MACRAY (3) in the ABC Consolation last August, she comes off a close second to MCARDLE LASSIE NZ (7) at Melton last week when wide in the last lap and cut down on the line. From her relative draw, she can turn the tables on that mare who's racing in by far career best form and is also in with a terrific chance. PANORAMA WEALTH (4), LIGHT IN EVERY DAY (8) and GUMDROPS (10) also have claims. RATINGS:5/3?/6/9/7/8/10/4. SUGGESTED BET: LOMBO SLEEK STREAK (5) to win. TOP PICK: Runners here are competing for spots in next week's Hunter Cup with this race the final standing start lead up. FOUR STARZZZ FLASH NZ (5) is a talented Kiwi who recently joined the Cran Dalgety team for two wins from as many starts for his new mentor. He ran fast time in beating Our Major Mark on his merits from a back mark in the Ashburton Cup on Boxing Day, then out-finished them from the one-one in the Omakau Cup from the mobile three weeks ago, beating quality performer Franco Ledger. He's won four of six standing start tries. DANGER: HIGHVIEW TOMMY NZ (4) has been placed from the stand in the last two NZ Cups and beat Sushi Sushi in the Ballarat Cup on this very night last year. He weakened after leading behind Sushi in the Bendigo Cup a fortnight ago but a return to the stand is right up his alley. OTHERS: It could be an all Kiwi finish with the Tony Herlihy trained OUR BETTOR DREAM NZ (11) being well in contention. He won back-to-back races at Alexandra Park, the latter from the stand, before a luckless fourth on that circuit and a fast finishing third at Cambridge a fortnight ago when pulling ground off the winner at the end of a 54.8 last half and 26.6 last quarter. OUR ARLINGTON NZ (3) followed Melton mobile successes with a tough Hamilton Cup standing start success, then was never a factor but made good late ground when mid-field in last week's Shepparton Cup. He's in hot form but isn't the fastest of standing start beginners. OUR CHAIN OF COMMAND NZ (1) won this race two years ago and his success was in the Menangle Cup last June. Winless in a five start Tasmanian campaign recently, his best run there by far was when third to Motu Crusader in the Tasmania Cup five weeks ago where he worked to the breeze and fought on strongly. The standing start conditions and good draw are right up his alley. RATINGS:4,5/11/1,3/8. SUGGESTED BET: Flexi trifecta 1, 3, 4, 5, and 11 to win and run second, with 1, 3, 4, 5, 8, 10 and 11 for third. $50 gets 50%. TOP PICK: REAL HAMMER (1) is a member of the in-form Geoff Webster team and a talented four year old who looks ideally suited here from the pole. Second two starts back at Melton to talented stablemate Charlie Machsheen, he led all the way at Bendigo a fortnight ago and draws to repeat over this shorter trip. DANGER: PEMBROOK CAESAR NZ (7) is an outstanding mare who's unbeaten in seven Australian starts. She ran a blistering 1:53.8 (54.7 home) when beating Bellas Delight in the Goffin Memorial over the sprint trip at Melton three weeks ago and would have been the clear top pick here but for her daunting outside draw. OTHERS: RENAISSANCE MAN (6) is a former top youngster who won first up at Globe Derby three weeks ago, then worked to the lead and was well clear on the home turn when cut down late by National Service at Melton last week. He'll be much improved by those two runs and looks ready to win. LE RAPIDE NZ (5) and talented Queensland visitor ONLY THE BRAVE NZ (10), who draws awkwardly, look the blowout chances. RATINGS:1/7/6/5/10. SUGGESTED BET: REAL HAMMER (1) to win. TOP PICK: SUSHI SUSHI (1) was back to his absolute best in his Bendigo Cup win a fortnight ago where he came from the rear and was wide and uncovered in the final circuit when producing an unbelievable 53.9 last half to overcome MAH SISH NZ (9). He has a great record when in front and has a terrific chance of going one better than his nose defeat in this race last year by Highview Tommy. DANGER: SMOKEN UP NZ (12) once again draws poorly as he did in the Victoria Cup, but if Lance can get him around to his favourite spot in the breeze, he'll be mighty hard to beat. He went too slowly in the lead when out-sprinted by MELPARK MAJOR (7) in the Horsham Cup two starts back, then prevailed in a dog fight over Caribbean Blaster in the SA Cup a fortnight ago. OTHERS: DECORATED JASPER (8) beat MELPARK MAJOR (7) here three starts back, then was luckless behind that fellow in the Horsham Cup before running home well for fourth in the Bendigo Cup last time. A fast beginner, he's likely to settle right behind the favourite but will still have to rely on luck as this circuit has no sprint lane. MELPARK MAJOR (7) has been back to somewhere near his top form of a few seasons back in recent times. A gallant second from the breeze here two starts back, he sat outside and beat SMOKEN UP NZ (12) in the Horsham Cup last time and although drawn wide here, is equally as adept when driven forward or coming from behind. MACH ALERT NZ (3) had a ìgut busterî and was gallant in defeat when not far away in the Cranbourne Cup, then sat in the breeze outside DECORATED JASPER (8) when second to that fellow in the Casey Classic at Melton before an impressive 1:54.8 victory over 2300 at Menangle last week. MAH SISH NZ (9) is in terrific form with a Victoria Cup second, a Melton victory against easier than these, and a tough wide-to-the-breeze second last time in the Bendigo Cup and he completes a quintet of strong winning chances. Blowout chances to MUSTANG MACH NZ (4), who disappointed in last week's Shepparton Cup, and AUCKLAND REACTOR NZ (11), who had every chance in the Bendigo Cup but will be improved by two recent runs from a break. RATINGS:1/3,7,8,9,12/4,11. SUGGESTED BET: SUSHI SUSHI (1) to win. TOP PICK: OUR FEMME FATALE (6) looks to have a mortgage on this. The Vicbred Final winner last season, she resumed after a luckless Breeders Crown Final effort in August with an impressive all the way victory here last week and she looks a better class than her rivals. DANGER: QUICK JET (3), who was runner up in last season's Breeders Crown Consolation, was a first up third to ASKMENOW NZ (10) at Bendigo then second to KHALEESI (9) at Maryborough, and draws to reverse both those decisions with her conquerors going to the extreme draws. OTHERS: KHALEESI (9) was having only her second race start when leading all the way and never troubled to win at Maryborough last week and she, along with ASKMENOW NZ (10), who sat in the breeze when third at Shepparton last week look next best, with BIT OF A BABE (8) a good multiple prospect. RATINGS:6/3/9,10/8. SUGGESTED BET: Trifecta 6 to win, 3, 8, 9 and 10 for second, and the field for third. $32 for $1. TOP PICK: This is a Monte affair for the trotters - Monte being French for ridden. ANDYS FAVOURITE (7) was an easy winner of his first try at this style of racing at Maryborough a month ago, then began badly and tailed out in one of these races at Kilmore last time. If on his game, he's the horse to beat. DANGER: COST ME A QUID NZ (9) is consistent at this level and he beat SHEA KEYSTONE (2) nicely in that Kilmore affair at his latest run. OTHERS: TROTTN ON THE RITZ (5), who's won 17 races, grades well for his first crack at this style of racing. His last start fourth in the Wedderburn Trotters Cup is good recommendation for this. SONOFANEARL NZ (8) is a handy gelding who's also running in his first Monte but has claims on his best form. Honourable mentions to the Bob Conroy trained EX CON (4) and OPTIMUM (10), who've both done well in these races in the past. RATINGS:7/5,9/8?/4/10. SUGGESTED BET: ANDYS FAVOURITE (7) to win. TOP PICK: An open affair where FLYIN INDI AIR (7) gets her chance of a deserved breakthrough. Placed five times on end following a Kilmore victory in November, she's had no luck from bad alleys in two recent Melton runs and although she positions wide again, this is a big class drop for her. DANGER: JOHNNY DIAMOND (4) similarly drops back in grade and can improve on mid-field finishes when luckless at recent runs. OTHERS: DILLON DAPHNE (6) doesn't win overmuch but there was a lot to like about the way she finished her race off when third here last week and she looks best of the others with ARTESIAN GLORY (5), MODERN MCKENZIE (8), PALAZZO BROMAC NZ (9) and FOLDEM (10) also in the mix. RATINGS:4,7/6/5/10/8/9. SUGGESTED BET: Flexi trifecta 4, 6 and 7 to win with 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9 and 10 second and third. $30 gets 25%. TOP PICK: JINGLING SILVER (6) was back to somewhere near her best with an impressive all the way Kilmore victory over the talented Sandys Boy last week when finishing off in 28.8. DANGER: EURASIAN HANOVER (4) won nicely here two starts back against similar opposition, then made a mistake at Bendigo last week. She looks just the top pick in an open race. OTHERS: APOLLORITA (2) has been placed at her last four, two of those here, and is a bold front runner who'll be hard to run down over the sprint trip. ATEGO LILLY (7) is racing in career best form but will need plenty of pace on up front as she's a staying type who draws poorly. The other three runners could also win without surprising. RATINGS:6/2,4/7/3,5/1. SUGGESTED BET: JINGLING SILVER (6) to win. Junee Sprint Lane: No Daily Double: 5, 7 Quaddie: 4, 5, 6, 7. TAB CODE S H TOUCHTONE 21 SKY RACING 1
