He was an excellent beginner in his homeland that should almost cruise to the top off his 20m handicap and after two impressive trial efforts on Aussie soil it would be a massive shock to see him get rolled. DANGER: SIENNA SUN (5) is a talented young trotting mare who s won two of her past four. She should also be in the firing line early on and can upset the favourite if he makes a mistake. OTHERS: LOMBO SCRUTINIZER (2) also has plenty of talent and looms as the other small winning hope. A versatile performer, she ll need to come with one big run today but she won a better race than this five back from well off the pace so certainly rates as the testing material in this. DANGER: SHESALLYANK (6) has improved at each of three runs this preparation and really caught the eye charging home at Tabcorp Park last time out. She is superbly bred and may develop into a nice horse so keep her safe today. OTHERS: BURSTON HOLME (11) is never far away in these types of races and must also be included despite the grandstand gate while recent trial placegetter DREAM BONUS (2) may be best of the rest. This is a tricky race but she is on the up and can overcome the car park draw. DANGER: JAPSERS CULLEN (7) is also drawn poorly due to the PBD conditions of the race but he too has ability and the Peter Manning team are flying right now. OTHERS: AHEADOFHISTIME (10) has promised plenty but he is yet to really fulfil his potential. Having said that, this race suits and he can certainly do something along with JILLIBY PARTY GIRL (2), LOMBO KRISTA BELLA (4) and I WANT CANDY (3). SELECTIONS: SOHO JOLIE (12), Jaspers Cullen (7), Aheadofhistime (10), Jilliby Party Girl (2) RATINGS:12/7/10/2/4/3/6/11/5/8/1 SUGGESTED BET: SOHO JOLIE (12) Each Way 4 Kitset Kitchens 3.40 1660m. $5000. Her last couple have been pretty good and while she s no moral, in a tricky little race she s the safest way to play. DANGER: ALTA ANTONIO (8) is drawn to trail MODERN MCKENZIE (8) in transit, meaning he ll be behind the leader or three pegs at worst. He probably boasts the best overall form of any runner and can also win if the breaks all go his way late. OTHERS: BOHEMIAN LOMBO (2) is a versatile type that loves to lay enforcer and may do so either in the lead or in the breeze here. Make sure you include him in Quads and also consider LOT OF LIP (9), SHALACKIN (10) and AMAJORFROST (5). He has had some near misses this preparation but draws to follow out fast beginner RUFFIANO (2) here so may well break through. Either way he s a great anchor for multiple wagers. DANGER: WESTERN ROCKSTAR (11) has promised the world in his career and once again showed why so many rate him when gifted the lead and too good in a sub 57-second last half at Terang two starts back. He mixes his form but must be included in Quads. OTHERS: ROSHARNI (12) resumes from a break here but her form last season was outstanding and she also warrants big consideration along with MODERN SCOOTER (7), ABSOLOOTMAGIC (5) and to a lesser extent AUSTRALIAN BITE (10). DANGER: FLAXTON FILLY (11) has been cruelled at the barrier draw but she is a sit-sprint specialist with a hint of class that would only need a cart into the race here to prove dangerous in the lane. OTHERS: AMBERLU ANGUS (4) is unbeaten this season and can also fly the arm. If he can somehow get in front of FOLDEM (1) then the race will dramatically change complexion but that s a big if, so he ll need to run the race of his life to win while the handily drawn BENALLY (8) is also in the mix for place money at least. SELECTIONS: FOLDEM (1), Flaxton Filly (11), Amberlu Angus (4), Benally (8) RATINGS:1/11/4/8/2/10/7/3/9/5/6 SUGGESTED BET: FOLDEM (1) To Win 7 Matthews Petroleum 5.33 2160m. $5000. This is a really tough race but he follows out fast beginner JILLIBY ABLETT (2) and just might be the one. DANGER: AMAJORJO (6) is the other pacer engaged with well above average ability on his day. He drops in class form taking on the Terang Cup here and if he bullies his way to the top that may be the end of the story. OTHERS: JILLIBY ABLETT (2) is a member of the powerful Marg lee team who will be first to the pegs and can also take this out while RADICAL IMPACT (3) and PRINCEOFTHIEVES (4) are your other winning hopes. DANGER: SCULLY MAGIC (8) is almost certainly the most gifted horse engaged here but he will need all of Gavin Lang s steering genius to overcome the awkward gate eight draw. OTHERS: IN THE FRAME LOMBO (9) is another consistent performer at this level who can figure along with MOURINHO (11) today. He has talent and will be breaking through very soon. Forbidden Forest Had no luck at all in the Provincial Cup final behind Whata Avenue when badly held up for a crack at them late. Expect him to figure wherever he lines up next. Yakuza Put up a big effort to run third behind Guns N Roses after racing three-deep the trip in very fast time. With better luck in a similar race, he'll prove hard to beat next start. THE HEROES Melpark Major Grand pacer continued super season with Geelong Cup triumph. Greg Sugars Star reinsman snared driving treble at Geelong Saturday night. Aleppo Midas Record-breaking mare beat the boys at Tabcorp Park. Gavin Lang Won three of first six races at Melton on Friday night. Victorian three-year-olds Claimed four of seven Oaks/ Derby heats in NSW at the weekend. SPRINT LANE with JASON BONNINGTON Breakthrough: Aleppo Midas dashes to victory on Friday. Pictures: STUART McCORMICK Hot form: Melpark Major backed up last week's win. Major milestone EVERGREEN pacer Melpark Major will be set for a 10-year- old campaign aimed at making him a millionaire after his Geelong Pacing Cup triumph on Saturday night. The former Victorian Horse of the Year capped an amazing season by defeating Inter Dominion finalist Caribbean Blaster. But with his troublesome back needing a rest, the son of Iraklis will head to the spelling paddock with just one goal in mind for his next campaign. ''What we'd really like to do is give him three months off, then return and make it to a million,'' proud trainer Alan Tubbs said. ''That's our aim for next season. The horse owes us nothing and we don't know whether Saturday night was the end. ''But if he comes back well target a few Free-For-Alls and try to get that done.'' Arguably Australia's most popular pacer, Melpark Major was perfectly handled by reinswoman Amy Tubbs in Beckley Park's biggest annual race. After finding the early lead, the multiple Group 1-winning team dropped anchor before ripping home in a 55.7sec final half that ended with Tubbs flourishing her whip in understandable delight. ''We're just that proud of him. He's the bravest horse I've ever handled and we're obviously thrilled to bits to see he's still able to produce that kind of performance,'' Tubbs said. Smolda hotter KIWI star Christen Me has unseated compatriot Smolda as Chariots of Fire favourite after drawing barrier four for Sunday's Group 1 feature over 1609m at Menangle. TAB has suspended betting on the NSW Oaks and Derby after the weekend's heats but has Christen Me at $3.20 and Smolda (barrier 12) at $3.50 in their Chariots market. Our Sixpence ($2.80) has unseated Bettor Cover Lover ($3.80) as favourite in TAB's Ladyship Mile market after they drew one and 12 respectively. The Inter Dominion barrier draw will be conducted this morning, with reframed markets available soon after. Midas eyes Star EXCITING mare Aleppo Midas will target Tabcorp Park's inaugural Great Southern Star series after breaking through at Melton on Friday night. Michelle Eastman's record- breaking daughter of Sundon remains unqualified for the Elitlopp-style series but, with Harness Racing Victoria wielding two wildcards, she may still snare a run. Particularly after displaying previously unseen gate speed to defeat Group 1 winners Mister Zion and Sundons Gift in a blistering mile rate of 1min 56.8sec. ''I knew from her previous start that we were headed in the right direction. She began well there and her whole racing style indicates she's showing more maturity,'' co- trainer Dale Eastman said. ''We're not in the big race yet, but we'll head to the Breed For Speed Gold Series heat and then the Grand Prix, and try to book our place through them.'' After once appearing as a benefit for dual Inter Dominion-winning Kiwi star I Can Doosit, the Great Southern Star now appears wide open. Aleppo Midas was just one exciting winner at the weekend. American-bred six-year-old My High Expectations also raised his stocks, winning the McNamara Memorial Trotters Cup at Geelong.
