Herald Sun Form Guide : March 1st 2013
heraldsun.com.au Herald Sun, Friday, March 1, 2013 33 + + FB123 C M Y K DHS 1-MAR-2013 PAGE 33 FIRST All too easy: All Too Hard can make it six wins in seven Melbourne starts when he runs in the Australian Guineas at Flemington tomorrow. .com.au TODAY Ballarat P48 TONIGHT Moonee Valley P37 TOMORROW Flemington P35 TOMORROW Rosehill P34 ADAM'S MULTI DOUBLE IM THEMIGHTYQUINN $3.60 Menangle Harness, Sunday, R7 No.6 West Australian star shooting for his third straight win in the race. Clearly the one to beat on the back of his heat victory and a trial during the week. STIG $2.80 Menangle Harness, Sunday R9 No.7 Aiming for fourth straight win and should have too much class, despite a slightly tricky gate. MULTI ODDS: $10.08 Flemington tomorrow TRACK: Dead (4) FIRST RACE: 12.15pm FEATURE AUSTRALIAN RACES 2.10pm: Group 3 Frances Tressady Stakes (1400m, f&m), Flemington 3.50pm: Group 2 Silver Slipper Stakes (1100m, 2yo), Rosehill 4.10pm: Group 1 Australian Guineas (1600m, 3yo), Flemington 4.30pm: Group 2 Hobartville Stakes (1400m, 3yo), Rosehill COVERAGE: TV: 7TWO. Foxtel --- 519 Sky Racing 1, 521 Sky Racing World, 522 TVN. RADIO: RSN WHO'S HOT DWAYNE Dunn, a perennial performer on the big stage, is having a great run. Last Saturday he took centre stage at Caulfield with a treble, scoring on All Too Hard, Grand Emperor and Foreteller. He will be looking for something similar tomorrow, with seven rides headed by superstar ALL TOO HARD (R7, No.1) in the Australian Guineas. His next best looks to be SHEILA'S STAR (R4, No.5). Dunn has moved to equal third on the Melbourne jockeys' premiership with 26 wins. Michael Manley ON THE TROT HE hasn't gone the traditional route, but if IM THEMIGHTYQUINN wins Sunday's Inter Dominion Pacing Final, he will be just the third three- time champion. Our Sir Vancelot completed the hat-trick in 1999, while Blacks A Fake won his third title in 2008 before returning for a fourth win two years later. Im Themightyquinn's first Inter Dominion title was clouded in controversy after the disqualification of Smoken Up. His second was won at home in Perth. Despite pacing the fastest final quarter in Menangle's history yesterday morning, Gary Hall's star is still $3.60 second favourite behind TERROR TO LOVE. HARNESS HOTLINE PAGE 41 TAB JACKPOTS Tomorrow's Flemington card boasts a $1 million First 4 pool guarantee on the Australian Guineas. Tomorrow night's The Meadows program has a record quaddie pool guarantee of $400,000 on races 5-8, with leg one at 8.52pm. The Tabcorp Park, Menangle, card on Sunday has a quaddie pool guarantee of $200,000 on races 4-7, with leg one at 1.55pm. THE EARLY OIL 1 First-starter INDULGENCE (7) has been backed from $2.50 to $2 with TAB. Two weeks ago she was $5 to $2 before being scratched from the Talindert Stakes at Flemington. She's a half sister to Marble Halls from the first Australian crop of English Derby winner New Approach. Another first-starter MARIANNE (8) has been $9.50 to $8. MOUNT ZERO (5) won well at Moonee Valley. EXCITABLE BOY (1) was stakes-placed over this track and distance on debut. SUGGESTED BET: Indulgence the win. TAB FIXED ODDS MARKET MOVERS: Indulgence $4 to $2 ($1000 at $4, $1000 at $3.40, $1000 at $3.20, $1500, $940 and $700 at $2.90); Marianne $9.50 to $8 ($500 at $8). 2 KEEP COOL (2) was left a sitting duck here last start when he booted clear early in the straight and was run down. Should be able to take a sit on ZLATAN (5). SHEWAN (1) ran on strongly for second in that race and will strip fitter. MIN RIVER (7) battled on well last start for fourth behind Niconoise after going forward in a race that played to swoopers. WHISPER DOWNS (4) is racing in great fashion. SUGGESTED BET: Keep Cool the win. TAB FIXED ODDS MARKET MOVERS: Shewan $5.50 to $4 ($1800 at $5.50, $1400 & $800 at $4.80); Min River $15 to $8 ($500 & $450 at $9, $400 at $8). 3 South Australian mare AVOID LIGHTNING (1) took her record to six wins from nine starts when she stormed home to win at Caulfield. Though up 3.5kg, she should get a good run off a likely fast speed to be set by the dangers LOVEYAMADLY (7) and LIGHT EXPRESS (8). GLOWS (2) is a classy mare who flies fresh. SUGGESTED BET: Avoid Lightning the win. TAB FIXED ODDS MARKET MOVERS: Loveyamadly $2.60 to $2.50 ($700 at $2.60); Light Express $12 to $8.50 ($600 & $400 at $12). 4 THERE'S ONLY ONE (1) swooped home to win at Caulfield first-up. She's an underrated mare whose record could be even better but for bad luck in her races. SHEILA'S STAR (5) resumed with an enormous effort to run third to JOLIE BLONDE (4) in the Hareeba Stakes at Mornington. Sat wide the whole race. KOONOOMOO (2) tried hard in the Group 1 Futurity Stakes. SUGGESTED BET: There's Only One the win. TAB FIXED ODDS MARKET MOVER: There's Only One ($700 at $3.40). 5 No stayer is racing in better form than TUSCAN FIRE (1). Made a one- act affair of the Mornington Cup, being eased down to win. DAME CLAIRE (2) has a great record at Flemington at 2500m and above. KUTCHINSKY (5) settled back and ran on well for fifth place in the Mornington Cup. The consistent BELLS OF TROY (3) steps up to 2600m for the first time, but should be suited by it. SUGGESTED BET: Tuscan Fire the win. TAB FIXED ODDS MARKET MOVERS: Nil. 6 CALLANISH (3) suffered his first defeat in nine starts when he finished eighth of nine in the Orr Stakes, but he was not disgraced. Should get a good on-speed run. LAUNAY (2) resumed with a good second in the Hareeba Stakes. Took same formline into this race two years ago, when he won. BRITISH GENERAL (8) returns to his favourite track and distance. EXCLUDED (4) is a talented galloper who can sprint well fresh. SUGGESTED BET: Callanish the win. TAB FIXED ODDS MARKET MOVERS: Folding Gear $26 to $19; Excluded $10 to $7 ($500 at $10); Prizum $31 to $26 ($500 at $31); Eraset $21 to $10. 7 Can't go past ALL TOO HARD (1). His Melbourne form is sensational with five wins and a Cox Plate second from six starts. AJEEB (12) is an emerging horse. Amazing win at Sandown last start as he worked hard throughout to lead and then kicked clear. HIGH SHOT (15) has a stack of potential. ALBRECHT (2) and YOU'RE SO GOOD (16) next best. SUGGESTED BET: Take 1 to defeat 2,12,15 and 16 in exactas/trifectas. TAB FIXED ODDS MARKET MOVERS: All Too Hard ($14,000, $3000 & $1000 at $1.33). 8 Brilliant filly ISABELLA SNOWFLAKE (10) looks ideally placed. Only defeat in four starts was over 1200m when left in front a long way out. Back to 1000m here. READY TO RIP (1) resumes. Last time in, he finished second at Group 2 level to Buffering in the Moir Stakes. Winner down the straight. Though he finished last at Caulfield, CARDINAL VIRTUE (5) hit the line strongly and was beaten just over a length. GENERAL TRUCE (2) next best. SUGGESTED BET: Isabella Snowflake the win. Box exacta 1,5 and 10. TAB FIXED ODDS MARKET MOVER: Eight Bills $14 to $7.50 ($400 & $200 at $14/$3.88, $400 at $9.50). 9 GAIL (4) loves this track and distance and should be at her peak. Smart stayer PRACTICED (6) resumes and usually goes well fresh. UNDER THE HAT (8) is racing consistently with placings at his past two starts here. CHASM (3) finished well last start over 1400m and may now be looking for 1700m. SUGGESTED BET: Gail each-way. TAB FIXED ODDS MARKET MOVER: Auld Burns $12 to $8 ($500 at $11). MICHAEL MANLEY'S TIPS BEST BET: CALLANISH (R6 No.3) QUADDIE: 2,3,8,9/1/1,2,5,8,10 / 2,3,4,6,8. Cost: $100 for 100 per cent. BEST VALUE: DAME CLAIRE (R5 No.2) BIG 6: 1,6 / 1,2,3,5 / 2,3/1/ 1,2,5,8,10 / 4,6. Cost: $100 for 62.5 per cent.
