He worked around them to lead mid-race when a 15 metre winner here three starts back, then made an early mistake when favourite and never a chance in the Holmfield at the Valley before a solid Shepparton victory last time where he again was eased to the rear and dashed around then in the middle stages. LET ME THRU (4) is a lightly raced gelding who’s won four of seven in this, his first season of racing. He won the APG 3YO Trotters Final at the Valley in April, then followed with back-to-back victories at Geelong before a solid fourth from an awkward draw at his latest run, in the Super Sires Final at the Valley a couple of months back. He’s trialled well for his return and will be a worthy opponent for this favourite. CHIPMONT LAD (8) was a longshot winner of the Holmfield at the Valley, then an easy Bendigo winner before getting caught up in traffic and making a mistake when favourite in the SA Derby last weekend. Give him another chance. FORWARD PRESS (7) has loads of talent but not the manners to match. His sole win was at Geelong this time last year and he was off the scene for a long time before four recent runs in which he’s been placed twice. The day he puts it all together, he’ll win a big race. Chances also to OUTMUSCLE (2), a Kilmore come-from-behind winner who weakened to fourth last week in the SA Derby; ONLYONEWOMAN (5) a handy filly who trialled well recently; and HEI GIFT (6), who’s shown up well at the trials but made three mistakes when debuting at Ararat a fortnight ago. Ratings: 1 / 4 / 8 / 7 / 2 / 5, 6. A locally trained ex-Kiwi, he’s won three of four since coming here, two of them on this circuit, and he impressed when coming from this mark to score nicely at Yarra Valley at his latest run. BARNEYS INVASION (7) has plenty of talent but doesn’t always put it together. He was on his best behaviour when finishing well to win a day race at Moonee Valley nine days ago and looks nicely graded against these. The query runner is ex-Kiwi NIGEL STARDUST (2), a tough Manawatu winner in March who then backed up two days later to run third there. He was placed in a recent Bendigo trial and draws for a first up Australian success. DROP US ALINE (1) sat in the breeze when first up and a close second at Kilmore a fortnight ago before a tough death seat third there on Wednesday night. She’ll be improved and looks nicely suited from the pole. STAR SPANGLED RAMA (3) is working up to a win – she sat in the breeze when cut down late here at the latest meeting and may even find the front this time. JUSTACHANDON (4) beat Tontine winner Kellys Nippa at Ballarat four starts back, made mistakes at her next two outings, then had the run of the race when second at Kilmore on Wednesday night. SPORTS FANTASY (6) is an honest gelding who didn’t have much luck at his latest outing, here a month ago, and should freshen nicely into this winnable race. WARRAROONG GIRL (8) and ULTIMATE IMAGE (9) are also in the mix. Ratings: 10 / 7 / 1, 2? / 3, 4, 6 / 9 / 8. SAHARA MISS (3) has been a big improver in two runs since Jodi Quinlan jumped aboard, they being a tough and close second to Robbos Retreat here a fortnight ago and a solid second after leading on this circuit last Tuesday night. TACTICAL JOURNEYS (2) showed good speed to lead at Horsham last Monday where he weakened in the closing stages when not far away. His chance here rests with finding the lead over this sprint journey. GHADAS KOALA (1) is an honest filly who’s been placed in 6 of 13, the latest of those a battling third to Kiss And Fly in a recent Moonee Valley day affair. She’s ready to win and draws to do so. ULTIMA CHANCE (4) finished off his juvenile campaign with back-to-back wins at Geelong and Ballarat last August but hasn’t fired in two runs this time in. He resumes off a month break and big improvement should be expected. SMOOTH (6) has been placed at his latest three outings and won’t be too far away in this small field. SLIPPINALONG (7) is a tough gelding who was wide to the breeze when scoring at Ballarat three starts back (second horse Tormachtuga has won since), then was again wide to the breeze when third at Ballarat before sitting in the one-one and a close second at last week’s Valley day meeting. There isn’t much between the six mentioned runners. Ratings: 3 / 1, 2 / 4, 6, 7. Suggested bet: Flexi box trifecta 1, 2, 3, 4, 6, 7. $30.00 gets you 25% ADAM HAMILTON 1 DOWN UNDER M. ? An eight year old, in 56 starts he’d only recorded two wins before recently joining the Peter Thompson stable for whom he ran two good races before his effortless heat victory where he took the lead away from MASTER VISION (5) and was never threatened. WHOLELOTASOUND (4) was having his third run back from a long spell when he sprinted quickly along the sprint lane to out-finish SMALLBOYINTHECROWD (8) in another heat. It was a big improvement for him and he’s obviously on the way back to the form that won him three races last season. Stablemate CAMINO HERITAGE (2), who gets Brian Gath, has done little racing in recent times and showed the benefit of his only run in 16 months with a fast finishing second in the other heat to KNICKERAMA (7), who’d sat in the one-one and out-battled them. He draws nicely and looks hard to beat. MASTER VISION (5) is next best with KNICKERAMA (7) and SMALLBOYINTHECROWD (8) having each way chances. Ratings: 3 / 4 / 2 / 5 / 7, 8. He’ll lead here and this track is very kind to on-pace runners. The query runner is LORD RODDICK (3), an ex-Kiwi who won one of five earlier this season when first coming here. He hasn’t started since a day time Moonee Valley failure in April but recently rated 2:00.6 in a Kilmore trial victory and looks ready for first up success. WAINGARO GRANDVIEW (5) was having his second run back from a let up when wide in the last lap and a tough Moonee Valley day time winner a fortnight ago and with his gate speed, is sure to be in the leading group throughout. CHRISP (6) had a purple patch in May with three wins on end, the most recent of those over the smart Wya Mya Macray at Maryborough. Forget her unplaced effort at the recent Moonee Valley day meeting when having her first run for a month and running into traffic problems. She’s a strong finisher with each way claims. LETS GO OLLIE (10) won a couple of races earlier this season and looked good in his first up standing start victory here a month ago before only battling in a 4YO Moonee Valley affair last time. He’ll be improved by those two outings and has and excellent each way chance. Claims also to HES ALBERT (7), who worked hard in the breeze when a tough winner here last time and SHOVANISTIC (8), who’s always a chance at this level and will be improved by recent racing. Ratings: 1 / 3? 5 / 6, 10 / 7, 8. He pulled hard but still battled on okay in the closing stages when third here at the latest meeting and will be improved by three runs from a spell. This is his first standing start try but quite often this type of horse who races fiercely, settles a lot better from the stand. GENTLE FORCE (9) has a good standing start record but not started since following a Maryborough mobile victory with a Geelong failure back in February. He beat the in-form One By One in a standing start trial at Bacchus Marsh last weekend, finishing off in 28.7, and looks primed for first up success. EASTWOOD COUNTESS (5) goes okay from the stand and has raced consistently of late. A winner here earlier this season, she comes off a hat trick of placings, the most recent of those here, and she didn’t have much luck from an awkward second line draw when fourth at Horsham last week. BOY FROM IPANEMA (3) would nearly have been a good thing to win this race on his form earlier this season but he’s only been battling of late. A colt who’s won three races this term, he had the run of the race when fourth in fast time from a stand at Maryborough two starts back, then was a battling fifth on this circuit last Tuesday. FLIGHTTONULLY (8) was a Warragul winner last month and has finished third at each of his latest three runs, the most recent in a strong race here last Tuesday, but she’s never started from behind the tapes. RILEY WATTS (1) is risky from the stand but is going well enough to have a chance from the pole, while LEON PHELPS (10) is also in the mix on a longshot second from the stand to the smart Sacre Coeur at Kilmore. A most consistent four year old gelding who’s won 10 of 29 with 10 placings, he sat in the breeze to beat the in-form Waiona at Bendigo four starts back, then was placed on that circuit before coming from the rear when just failing to pick up CHARLEYS DREAM (12) here, then ran a mighty race for second to Singasongasixpence at Shepparton a fortnight ago where he worked extremely hard from the rear to find the breeze at the bell and fought on courageously to be beaten narrowly in a 27.7 last split. THE GUNSTAR (3) resumed for new trainer Dean Braun when he led and weakened late for third to CHARLEYS DREAM (12) and JACCKA CLIVE (6) here a month ago, then was wide in the final circuit and not far away in a strong Moonee Valley affair. He’s been freshened for this and is sure to run a bold race from this draw. CHARLEYS DREAM (12) looked good in his last start victory here over JACCKA CLIVE (6), which was a month ago, and he prepped for this with a fast back mark standing start trial victory here last weekend. He completes a trio of strong winning chances. Next best are handy mare VILLAGE GLOW (2), who made two moves and fought on well when a close third to rising star Sammy Maguire at Geelong last weekend; and TOBERMORAY (9), who’s form has been a little patchy this season - the fact that he’s trained by the in- form Lance Justice is certainly in his favour. Handy mares BELOKA DIAMOND (1) and TWIRLING (10) are also in the mix. Ratings: 6 / 3? 12 / 2, 9 / 1, 10. CROMBIE (6) was an early season standout with a couple of strong wins, but in three runs from a spell he hasn’t really trouble the scorer. That being said, those efforts were in a heat of the Tatlow behind Bells And Whistles, a fourth to Composed in a Vicbred Heat at Bendigo, and an unplaced effort behind that same horse at the Valley last weekend. The big class drop here will be beneficial to him. COURAGEOUS SPIRIT (5) took the eye with a solid debut success over OHOKA DETROIT (4) here ten days ago, where he found the lead from his wide alley and held off a late challenge from the runner up, who’d trailed him. He’ll be even better for that experience. OHOKA DETROIT (4) subsequently ran a close second beaten a nose at Horsham last Monday and completes the trio of winning chances. Others with some chance are PRIMO HAMMER (1), who went nicely at her second race start when third in a recent Moonee Valley day affair to Glenferrie Inn; and MISTER RUFUS (7), a dual winner earlier this season who’ll be improved by his luckless first up unplaced Kilmore effort a fortnight ago.
