Herald Sun Form Guide : November 14th 2009
+ + FB123 C M Y K DHS 14-NOV-2009 PAGE 45 FIRST heraldsun.com.au Herald Sun, Saturday, November 14, 2009 45 Right at home: weight-for-age stalwart Zipping is aiming for a hat-trick of wins in the Sandown Classic today. MIDNIGHT OIL with TIM HABEL TRACK: Dead 4 PENETROMETER: 5.38 RAIL: True LAST TIME TRUE: August 5 LAST MEETING: Out 15m Sept. 23 RAINFALL: Nil for week IRRIGATION: 42mm for week RADAR: Clear 1 THE long Hillside straight is made to order for O'REILLY'S CLOCK (1). He was doing his best work late at Flemington last week over 1600m. The small field and the extra 100m should suit. TINTERN (3) won a restricted race over Cup week is lightly raced and has always shown promise. TESTALUX (5) ran on well last time and has been saved for this in preference to the Valley last night. ON PACERS: Riversdale SWOOPERS: O'Reilly's Clock, Rhyno Chaser, Tintern, Testalux, Dashatin, Packing Hero SUGGESTED BET: O'Reilly's Clock each-way, box exactas with 3. 2 STIRLING GROVE (1), an Adel- aide winner on debut, was heavily backed at Flemington last Saturday in the Maribyrnong Plate but was scratched after a barrier mishap. With SHAAHEQ (9) he's the pick of those to race. Obvious watch on the unraced. ON PACERS: Lack of exposed form SWOOPERS: Lack of exposed form SUGGESTED BET: Nil. 3 THIS looks a race made to order for DIAMONDS AT DUSK (1). He's a proven weight carrier and down in grade from a sound run down the straight in listed class last time. He can overrace so the presence of speedy MR SLICK (3), also down in grade, is ideal. Former Perth sprinter SNIP ESPRIT (4) didn't get a lot of room but closed late to just miss in a blanket finish down the straight on Oaks Day at his first run for a new stable. BLITZ'EM RILEY (5) and ENCROACHER (8) have sound fresh form and can place. ON PACERS: Mr Slick, Spirited Halo SWOOPERS: Diamonds At Dusk, Snip Esprit, Blitz'em Riley, Encroacher. SUGGESTED BET: Diamonds At Dusk straight out, exactas and trifectas with 2, 3, 4, 5, 8, 9. 4 MARQUARDT (1) has found an ideal race. She charged home behind Trim down the straight and the longer 1400m here suits. HUSSKILA (4) was close-up in the same race. EUROPA POINT (2) was narrowly beaten by Sandown Guineas runner Majestic Music last time. There isn't a lot of obvious speed here and she could take running down if she leads. ON PACERS: Europa Point SWOOPERS: Marquardt, Husskila, Illusionary, Miss Shamardal SUGGESTED BET: Quinellas, exactas 1, 2. 5 LUCKY SECRET (1) has a huge class edge on his rivals here. This is his first run beyond 1200m but he should control the race and win. DIPLOMATIC FORCE (6) was an unlucky fourth in this race last year and can improve on his recent form. POSADAS (5) led when he ran second in this race last year. He should trail Lucky Secret and is back in form with a Rosehill win. NEWS ALERT (7) has a good record and at his first Victorian run ran on strongly in the Salinger. ON PACERS: Lucky Secret, Posadas SWOOPERS: Falaise, Diplomatic Force, News Alert. SUGGESTED BET: Lucky Secret straight out 6 MAJESTIC MUSIC (9) is a qual- ity filly capable of upsetting KIDNAPPED (1). She has a good record at 1600m and hits the line strongly. Kidnapped had the Carbine Club won a long way out but lost concentration when he got to the front enabling DISCO SUMMIT (5) to get closer. Kidnapped's stablemate KHAS KURA (4) won in fast time in weaker grade at Randwick last week. IT'LLBEFANTASTIC (3) isn't suited by the set weights but he is an improving galloper who can use the good draw. ON PACERS: It'llbefantastic, Khas Kura SWOOPERS: Kidnapped, Turf Ex- press, Disco Summit, Silver Spur, Absolute Soda, Majestic Music SUGGESTED BET: Quinellas, exactas 1, 9. 7 THE best weight-for-age per- formers by far in an even field are ZIPPING (2), aiming for a hat- trick of wins in this race, and Mackinnon winner SCENIC SHOT (3). In previous years Zipping has come off Melbourne Cup starts. He is fresher this year, missing the Mackinnon because of a mishap in the barriers. Scenic Shot is battle hardened and proven at 2400m. MASTER O'REILLY (1), RAFFAELLO (6), ZARITA (7), MISS MAREN (8), PURPLE (9) can all place. ON PACERS: Miss Darcey, Purple SWOOPERS: Master O'Reilly, Zipp- ing, Scenic Shot, Raffaello, Zarita, Miss Maren. SUGGESTED BET: Zipping and Scenic Shot straight out, and couple them in quinellas and exactas. 8 WIDE open race with ITSAMONTY (2) a value runner. He didn't get a crack at his rivals when poised to take a hand in the finish at Flemington last week. He's stakes placed and placed at both runs at the trip. WALKING OR DANCING (5) raced on a hectic pace in last week's Group 1 Emirates before he dropped out. Down in grade and back 100m points to a bold showing. Underrated JUNGLE RULER (1) is better known as a soft tracker but he has good track form and will lead and fight hard as usual. AHDASHIM (4), NINE TALES (7), SOUND OF NATURE (8) can all place. ON PACERS: Jungle Ruler SWOOPERS: Itsamonty, Ahdashim, Walking Or Dancing, Nine Tales, Sound Of Nature SUGGESTED BET: Itsamonty each- way. 9 HIDDEN ENERGY (14) didn't get a lot of room in the straight last start at Flemington. Two runs back in Adelaide she finished hard behind impressive Flemington winner Very Discreet and she was Group 1 placed in March. FLYING TESSIE (7) found the fast lane on Oaks day to win in weaker class. She's a winner here and can graduate to stakes class. SILENT SOPHIA (13) had consistent form before last start when dragged back through the field at Moonee Valley. AMBERINO (1), SPARKLING SATINE (4) and ROSE SYRAH (6) have claims. ON PACERS: Silent Sophia SWOOPERS: Amberino, Dane Julia, Causeway Queen, Sparkling Satine, Rose Syrah, Flying Tessie, Avienus, Viking Turf Belle, Hidden Energy SUGGESTED BET: Hidden Energy each-way, box quinellas 1, 4, 6, 7, 13, 14. THE MAIL GUEST TIPSTER Tim Habel ALL UP SANDOWN (Races3&5) Diamonds At Dusk (1), Lucky Secret (1): Both look a cut above their rivals. Go all-up the pair of number ones. Adam Hamilton RUNNING DOUBLE SANDOWN (Races 1&2): Tintern (3) into Stirling Grove (1). Should be a nice way for punters to build a bank for the day. Michael Manley PARLAY SANDOWN: Take a Formula 2,3 and 4 bet coupling the better bets of the day. They are Tintern (R1 No. 3), Marquardt (R4 No. 1), Lucky Secret (R5 No. 1) and Kidnapped (R6 No. 1). For $5 that will cost $55. Nick Quinn TO WIN RICCARTON (R9 No. 1): Katie Lee ultra impressive her past two victories and looks extremely well graded over the mile at set weights against the other fillies. With leading Kiwi hoop Opie Bosson in the saddle she looks set to make it two Guineas victories in two starts. Arguably the most dominant horse in New Zealand since Sir Slick. The BIG6 will operate on the following meetings. Sandown gallops: Leg 1: Race 4: 2.10. Leg 2: Race 5: 2.50. Leg 3: Race 6: 3.30. Leg 4: Race 7: 4.10. Leg 5: Race 8: 4.50. Leg 6: Race 9: 5.30. Rawiller's has seven rides with his best being LUCKY SECRET (Race 5, No.1) and ROSE SYRAH (Race 8, No.6). THE MARKET $2.90 Nash Rawiller $3.30 Kerrin McEvoy $4.20 Dwayne Dunn $7.50 Damien Oliver $10.00 Blake Shinn $10.00 Any other indiv. jockey $26.00 Danny Nikolic $35.00 Michael Rodd Danny O'Brien TRAINER MASTER O'REILLY (Sandown R7 No. 1): They went too slow for him in the Melbourne Cup and that's my main concern again here. Finished well in that race and will do the same again here. SPARKLING SATINE (Sandown R9 No. 4): Forgive her last run, she didn't handle the really firm ground on Cox Plate day. She has a touch of class. Robbie Griffiths TRAINER TESTALUX (Sandown R1 No. 5): It's hard to go past the favourite. Second and third is up for grabs and I was happy with his last run. He's in good form coming into this and I expect a solid run. SPIRIT OF POMPEII (Sandown R4 No. 9): Lovely filly out of her depth as she is a maiden but I like her and think it's worth a roll of the dice to see whether we can sneak some black type. Should be suited by this track. COCINERO (Sandown R5 No. 2): He's running in this race for the fourth time and he's got a second and a third to his credit. He's going well though and hasn't had much luck recently although it's hard to go past Lucky Secret. He's finally drawn a barrier in this race and in this campaign and it should be a great help. ABSOLUTE SODA (Sandown R6 No. 7): He's a nice prospect. I like the way he finished it off last week at Flemington in a manner which suggests the extra distance will suit. I've also put the blinkers on first time. I think he will run a big race. Jason Sylvester BOOKMAKER MISS MAREN (Sandown R7 No. 8): Miss Maren looks a nice each-way bet and represents value. She followed her good effort in New Zealand with a super run in the Mackinnon Stakes where she was held up in the closing stages.
