Herald Sun Form Guide : March 23rd 2012
heraldsun.com.au Herald Sun, Friday, March 23, 2012 49 + + FB123 C M Y K DHS 23-MAR-2012 PAGE 49 FIRST Let's Rock: Empress Rock is expected to dominate the 1600m Fillies Classic at Moonee Valley tonight. Picture: MICHAEL DODGE TODAY Bendigo P64 TONIGHT Moonee Valley P51 TOMORROW Caulfield P53 TOMORROW Rosehill P50 ADAM'S MULTI DOUBLE EMPRESS ROCK $3.20 Moonee Valley R5 No.1 Couldn't have been more impressive winning the Kewney. Bart Cummings looks as if he has another star. HI BELLE $5 Moonee Valley R7 No.4 Prepared to forgive Flemington as weight anchored her over the concluding stages. Meets rivals from that on better terms and won't get as far back. MULTI ODDS: $16 Moonee Valley tonight TRACK: Dead (4) FIRST RACE: 6.45pm FEATURE AUSTRALIAN RACES 7.45pm: $100,000 Hacer Group Premium Plate (1200m, 3yo). 8.45pm: $201,000 Group 2 Sportingbet Fillies Classic (1600m, 3yo fillies) 9.15pm: $401,000 Group 1 Power Tracker William Reid Stakes (1200m, wfa) 9.45pm: $201,500 Sportingbet Sunline Stakes (1600m, mares, wfa) COVERAGE: TV: Foxtel --- 519 Sky Racing 1, 521 Sky Racing World, 522 TVN. RADIO: Radio Sport National (927) WHO'S HOT PETER Moody is in great form with a double at Moonee Valley last Friday night with Kulgrinda and Highly Recommended, followed with a double at Sandown on Wednesday with Mareeza and Privately. Moody, who has trained 64 city winners for the season, has his third straight premiership in the bag. With more than three months left in the season, will he pass last year's total of 104 city winners? Moody has six runners tonight, with his best chances all at good odds. In the main races he has TORAH (R5, No.5 TAB Sportsbet $18, MID SUMMER MUSIC (R6, No.7 TAB Sportsbet $26) and SO PRISTINE (R7, No.11 TAB Sportsbet $17). Michael Manley HARNESS HOTSHOTS IT is only fitting on Girls Night Out that female trainers should prepare three leading chances in the Rising Stars Series Final at Melton's Tabcorp Park. Joanne Arneill and Marg Lee train Eton Bromac and Keayang Cullen, respectively, and both are primed for glory after dominant heat wins last weekend. But perhaps the greatest chances of success in tonight's $25,000 decider are Ballarat trainer Emma Stewart and her blueblood four-year- old Jadahson. The son of triple Group 1 winner Jadah Rose, Stewart's emerging star appears set to fulfil his potential after back-to-back victories at Ballarat and Melton. HARNESS HOTLINE PAGE 57 TAB JACKPOTS Tonight's Moonee Valley card boasts a $25,000 BIG6 jackpot on the last six races, with the first leg at 7.45. At Tabcorp Park, Melton, tonight there's a $10,000 quaddie jackpot on races 4-7, kicking off at 7.40. Tomorrow at Caulfield is a $50,000 First 4 jackpot on the final race, while there is a $20,000 BIG6 jackpot at Pakenham on Sunday. THE EARLY OIL 1 FAST AND FREE (2) looks a horse going places. Two starts this campaign have produced two top wins. Raced on speed and won well here 11 days ago. NOW YOU KNOW (4) wasn't suited by the slow track last start at Sandown. GOGONSKI (3) is an honest galloper racing well. SUPREME WARRIOR (5) tried hard when placed behind Fast And Free last week. SUGGESTED BET: Fast And Free the win. :2 OUR SERENA (5) is well suited in this. Put in a top effort last start when just beaten by subsequent Adelaide Cup runner-up Drunken Sailor at Flemington and kept fighting to the line. Last spring she was just beaten in the Sandown Cup by Olympic Win over 3200m. AIGLON (9) was strong winning here at his first attempt over this distance. MONTGOMERY (4) loves this track/ distance and ran home well last start for third over 2500m here. SADDLER'S STORY (3) was specked to win Adelaide Cup last start, but never came into contention. ROWLAND (7) will be thereabouts. SUGGESTED BET: Our Serena the win. :3 Australia's best maiden SHARNEE ROSE (11) again gets the chance to shake that tag. Somehow managed to retain it when Instalment burst through on her inside to get up and win by a nose at Flemington to take her record to four seconds and two thirds from six starts. Stablemate AMERICAN DREAM (3) led and fought on well for third in same race. Tassie filly BUZZING ALONG (10) was just beaten by stablemate Lady Lynette last start. SIR FERNANDO (4), CASH BOUND (1) and METONYMY (9) have claims. SUGGESTED BET: Sharnee Rose each-way. Box exacta 3,10 and 11. :4 GENERAL TRUCE (3) should be suited by the expected sizzling speed set by QUEEN DELIGHT (4) and FAB FEVOLA (5) and should get a great run. Won here three starts ago this track/distance before taking on two stronger races. A 3kg claim from Ben Knobel brings him in with 53.5kg. Queen Delight was run down in the final stages by Panipique at Flemington. SUGGESTED BET: General Truce the win. :5 EMPRESS ROCK (1) is an exciting prospect. Took up a position on the speed in the Kewney Stakes and then surged away like a top-class filly. Takes on virtually same field and the step up to 1600m looks ideal. TOTAL ATTRACTION (4) ran home well in same race for fourth. Step up to 1600m should also suit. OUR MISS JONES (8) has a ton of potential. Missed the start, but ran home strongly for placing behind Glows here. Last spring she finished second at Caulfield behind Atlantic Jewel. TWILIGHTING (6) is better than failure in Kewney suggests. SUGGESTED BET: Empress Rock the win. TAB FIXED ODDS MARKET MOVERS: Empress Rock $3.40 - $3.20 ($2900 @ $3.40); Two Sugars $18 - $16 ($500 & $200 @ $18); Twilighting $10 - $9.50 ($200 @ $10, $350 @ $9.50). 6 Looks a HAY LIST (1) benefit. Defeated five of his rivals in the Newmarket Handicap and meets them all significantly better at the weights. He is also two from two at the Valley. The Robert Heathcote pair of BUFFERING (2) and WOORIM (3) hold the key to beating him. On-pacer Buffering will make Hay List work throughout, while Woorim will sit out the back and swoop. Under-rated Buffering is building a strong case to say he is the third-best sprinter in the land behind Black Caviar and Hay List. Classy REKINDLED INTEREST (4) is a weight-for-age performer who loves the Valley. Has worked well and should get a good stalking run. FOXWEDGE (8) stuck to his guns to hold down third in Newmarket. Meets Hay List 6kg worse. SUGGESTED BET: Hay List to defeat Woorim in exacta. TAB FIXED ODDS MARKET MOVERS: Buffering $8 - $7 ($4000 @ $8). Mid Summer Music $31 - $26 ($300 @ $31 twice). 7 HI BELLE (4) is worth another chance. Meets the three horses who beat her last start at Flemington 3kg better. She got back too far on that occasion, but still ran home well. LADY LYNETTE (1), who finished sixth in that race, meets rivals even better, with a 4.5kg turnaround on the placegetters. She loves the Valley. SPIRIT SONG (6) fought hard to win that Flemington race from MARVEEN (2), who should now be ready. SUGGESTED BET: Hi Belle each-way. TAB FIXED ODDS MARKET MOVERS: Raspberries $5.50 - $5 ($1900 at $5.50); Lady Lynette $9 - $8.50 ($700 at $9) 8 Looks a clash between two of the finds of summer in DEL PALIO (4) and IT'S CRUNCH TIME (6). Del Palio will be giving It's Crunch Time a start and barrier one may not suit, but he has the ability to overcome these hurdles. It's Crunch Time will be on the speed and is sure to take running down. TOO DEADLY (3) is having first start for new stable. SUGGESTED BET: Box exacta 4 and 6. MICHAEL MANLEY'S TIPS BEST BET: EMPRESS ROCK (R5 No.1) QUADDIE: 1,4,8/1,3/1,2,3,4,5,6/4,6 Cost: $100 for 138.88 per cent. BEST EACH-WAY: HI BELLE (R7 No.4) BIG 6: 1,3,4,10/11/3,4,6,8/1,4,8/1,3/1,2,3,4, 5,6/4,6 Cost: $100 for 6.94 per cent.
