HARNESS RACING TODAY 1 D&a Clothing Trot 1.17 2190m. $5000. 3yo Trotters 3T0 Only RBD Mobile 1 6 PATCH PEPPERELL Ian White Fr 21.00 2 7 GOOD LOOKA Neil McCallum Fr 12.00 3 VINCENNES Ross Graham Fr 8.50 4 UPANDGONE Frank Evans Fr 26.00 5 1173s SPIDERGIRL Chris Alford Fr J1.30 6 06 FRAMED AND HUNG Gavin Lang Fr 16.00 7 159s7 SHIPS SHUI Brett Shipway Fr 16.00 Second Line 8 5 STUNNING JASPER Richard Caruana (C) Fr 34.00 9 58444 ZOOMAS DEVIL Richard Holland Fr 26.00 TOP PICK: SPIDERGIRL (5) was named Victorian 2YO Trotting Filly of the Year last term, largely on the strength of her dominant Vicbred Super Series success in July. She is a star in the making and also trialled encouragingly for her return so it would take a big error in transit to see her get rolled. DANGER: VINCENNES (3) is a Ganymede debutante who went well enough when third to Basil Knight in a recent Bendigo trial. He is trained by top trotting mentor Ross Graham and may be the major danger if SPIDERGIRL (5) makes a mistake. OTHERS: This is a very difficult race to assess with the lack of exposed form but GOOD LOOKA (2), FRAMED AND HUNG (6) and SHIPS SUI (7) are all capable of running a drum. SELECTIONS: SPIDERGIRL (5), Vincennes (3), Good Looka (2), Framed And Hung (6) RATINGS:5/3/2/6/7/1/4/9/8 SUGGESTED BET: SPIDERGIRL (5) To Win 2 Balmoral On York 1.53 2190m. $5000. An outstanding three-year-old prospect with dazzling gate speed, he'll be in front after 50m here and from there it will only be a question of the margin as he continues his charge toward a possible place in next month's Victoria Derby Final. DANGER: VIVA COURAGE (2) is also a better than average beginner who should do enough to find the back of GINGER BLISS (4) with any luck at all. If that scenario pans out then she'll be short odds to run second and is worth playing with in all exotic bets. OTHERS: If things don't go to plan for VIVA COURAGE (2) then SAABRINA MISS (6) and ISABELLA DELACOUR (10) come into calculations for the silver medal role clear of IN THE FRAME LOMBO (8). SELECTIONS: GINGER BLISS (4), Viva Courage (2), Saabrina Miss (6), Isabelle Delacour (10) RATINGS:4/2/6/10/8/7/3/9/1/5 SUGGESTED BET: Flexi Trifecta: 4/ 2,6,10/ 2,6,8,10 ($27 gets 300%) 3 Goldseeker Motel 2.29 1690m. $5000. Video watchers would have noted him dashing home behind Mach Rules at Cranbourne last start and if the pace is on here he'll be finishing all over the top. DANGER: SEEFEEL POCKET (4) has always had talent and now appears to be returning to some of his better form. A nice last start winner he should push forward in search of the top here and would be be very tough to run down if he found it. OTHERS: ULTIMATE DEAL (5) was airborne a month or so back but hasn't been himself in recent starts. There has to be question marks over him but he's well up to this at his bets while speedy beginner MACHOMICAL (2) may put value into exotics if he finds the front first. SELECTIONS: MISTER DOUGLAS (7), Seefeel Pocket (4), Ultimate Deal (5), Machomical (2) RATINGS:7/4/5/2/6/8/9/3/1 SUGGESTED BET: Flexi Trifecta: 4,5,7/ 4,5,7/ 2,3,4,5,6,7,8 ($30 gets 100%) 4 Korong Vale Hotel 3.05 1690m. $5000. 3yo Fillies 3C0 Only RBD Mobile 1 09s8s ROCKN RUBY (Em1) Tim McGuigan Fr 2 s47s3 BELLA ENOBRAC Mick Carbone Fr 4.00 3 69s34 DREAMY SMILE Gavin Lang Fr 4.50 4 53s35 CHAIN OF GOLD NZ John Newberry Fr 16.00 5 4358s CLEVEDON BETTY Zac Phillips (C) Fr 5.00 6 s487s SOHO JOLIE Michael Stanley Fr 26.00 7 4 KHALEESI John Caldow Fr 6.50 Second Line 8 623s3 QUICK JET Chris Alford Fr J3.20 9 755s6 PENGUINS PRIDE Neil McCallum Fr 101.00 10 s9934 THE MORNING LINE Greg Sugars Fr 34.00 11 MISS ROXIE HART Kylie Sugars Fr 21.00 12 s7s5 FROSTY STAR Matthew Berger Fr 101.00 TOP PICK: BELLA ENOBRAC (2) is a swift beginner who did enough when third to Illawong Joyful and Pressplay in a similar race to this last time out. She may not be the best pacer engaged but she'll get a soft run over the short trip and looks the safest play. DANGER: DREAMY SMILE (3) finished fourth in the same race as BELLA ENOBRAC (2) after being held up until after acceptances along the pegs. She is in a good camp and must be respected from the favourable draw. OTHERS: QUICK JET (8) was placed behind Delightful Christian in the Breeders Crown consolation last term and did enough first up behind Askmenow at Bendigo. She is probably the best horse engaged here so rate her highly. SELECTIONS: BELLA ENOBRAC (2), Dreamy Smile (3), Quick Jet (8), Clevedon Betty (5) RATINGS:2/3/8/5/7/4/10/6/11/9/12 SUGGESTED BET: Flexi Box Trifecta: 2,3,5,8 ($24 gets 100%) 5 Acciona Energy 3.40 2190m. $5000. A versatile type who was touched off by McArdle Lassie after leading before charging home for third to that horse last time out, he'll head forward at the start here and should be a shade too good. DANGER: SPLENDID CHOICE (5) is a tricky horse to follow but as a quick beginner on his day who may even push forward in search of the front he must be respected against beatable opposition. OTHERS: GUVS BOY (11) has more than enough ability to win but is racing slightly below his best while WEALTHY WARRIOR (4) arrives here fresh from a promising trial performance at this course and has the draw to figure. SELECTIONS: ROCKSTAR RULER (7), Splendid Choice (5), Guvs Boy (11),Wealthy Warrior (4) RATINGS:7/5/11/4/10/12/9/8/3/2/1 SUGGESTED BET: ROCKSTAR RULER (7) To Win 6 Central Vic Trot 4.13 2690m. $5000. This is a tough first-up assignment but he might be special and deserves to rate on top. DANGER: ROSALIE BAY (4) heads the challengers based on her strong form last term. She made an early mistake first up but still ran on OK and should be in the mix with a better getaway today. OTHERS: Heaps of these can figure with a healthy slice of luck including but not limited to EARL HARBOUR (13), HOLD THAT GRIN (8) and TENDAHO (3) today. SELECTIONS: SUNSET INVASION (10), Rosalie Bay (4), Earl Harbour (13), Hold That Grin (8) RATINGS:10/4/13/8/3/1/11/5/7/9/12/2 SUGGESTED BET: SUNSET INVASION (10) To Win 7 Central Vic Pacers 4.53 2190m. $5000. It was disappointing to watch him go down last start but he was still very good and should go one better today. DANGER: CHARLIE MACHSHEEN (9) is another rising 4YO star who has won four of six this season and looks right back to his outstanding juvenile form. This is his first go from the tapes but barring bad luck he'll fight out the finish with RESTREPO (8) here for sure. OTHERS: LIGHTS ANDS MUSIC (7) and BUBBLE ART (2) are both stand start guns who could fight out third placing although almost every runner engaged has claims to that role. OTHERS: JOELISSA (6) and trial placegetting Christian Cullen debutante TUSCANY EYRE (8) appear next best ahead of FIJIAN SMILE (2) and AMELIA MARIE (12). Picture: STUART McCORMICK All class: Smoken Up made it four SA Pacing Cup wins. Un-four-gettable VICTORIAN pacer Smoken Up has rewritten the record books again, claiming his fourth South Australian Pacing Cup in five years on Saturday night at Globe Derby Park. The two-time Miracle Mile winner joined Gammalite for the honour of most SA Cup successes with the 2.2m win. But it was the majesty of the match race between Smoken Up and Victoria Cup-winning tyro Caribbean Blaster more than any heroics that will make this one of his finest wins. Drawn inside the back row following a shock last-start defeat in the Horsham Cup, Lance Justice's legendary pacer was expected to struggle against the might of Caribbean Blaster. Even after extricating off the inside and finding the front early, Smoken Up was drilled and seemingly beaten by Andy and Kate Gath's emerging star several times in the final lap. But Smoken Up, even at 10 years of age, fought back for a win that symbolised his extraordinary career. ''It was like being knocked down in the ninth round of a heavyweight fight, having the referee count to eight and then getting back up and winning the title,'' Justice said. ''Even (partner) Dianne (Giles) thought I'd given up because I stopped driving him around the final turn, but I was just straightening him up for one last crack at Caribbean Blaster. ''All credit to that horse because plenty would have folded up racing outside us in those times, but we won at the start. The old boy proved there's plenty in him yet.'' Outside of March's Inter Dominion at Menangle, Justice is unsure where Smoken Up will head next but conceded Friday week's Group 1 Ballarat Cup may be on his agenda. Unexpected return VICTORIAN harness racing's prodigal son Sushi Sushi has announced his return to Freddy Taiba's stables with an arrogant Bendigo Pacing Cup win over Mah Sish and Auckland Reactor. Recently returned from a stint with Mark Purdon in Christchurch, Sushi Sushi was an impressive trial winner last Monday and was well supported at his first run for Taiba since August. But not even Victorian Metropolitan Driver of the Year Greg Sugars --- who also resumed acquaintances last weekend --- believed he was primed for such a dominant display. ''I was very, very happy with how the horse trialled on Monday. But if you told me we could sit three deep for most of the last lap and win the way we did, I probably would have laughed,'' Sugars said. He intimated Sushi Sushi would attack the Group 1 Ballarat Pacing Cup, the race that ended his 16-race streak 12 months ago.
