Herald Sun Form Guide : February 1st 2013
heraldsun.com.au Herald Sun, Friday, February 1, 2013 33 + + FB123 C M Y K DHS 1-FEB-2013 PAGE 33 FIRST Star turn: If she can overcome her wide draw, Cosmic Causeway is every chance of saluting in race seven at Caulfield tomorrow. .com.au TODAY Wangaratta P48 TONIGHT Moonee Valley P37 TOMORROW Caulfield P35 TOMORROW Rosehill P34 ADAM'S MULTI DOUBLE GUARANTEED $1.65 Melton harness, tomorrow night, R5, No.3 Was very impressive last week in his Derby heat. Has perfect draw and should make it 11 wins from 13 starts. CARIBBEAN BLASTER $3.60 Melton harness, tomorrow night R8, No.14 Chariots Of Fire, Breeders Crown, Victoria Cup winner and can add A.G. Hunter Cup to his collection. MULTI ODDS: $5.94 Caulfield tomorrow TRACK: Good (3) FIRST RACE: 12.45pm FEATURE AUSTRALIAN RACES 1.25pm: Chairman's Stakes (1100m) Caulfield 2.05pm: Manfred Stakes (1200m) Caulfield 2.45pm: W.J. Adams Stakes (1000m) Caulfield 3.25pm: Mornington Cup Prelude (2000m) Caulfield 4.05pm: Championship Final (1600m) Caulfield COVERAGE: TV: Foxtel - 519 Sky Racing 1, 521 Sky Racing World, 522 TVN. RADIO: Radio Sport National (927) WHO'S HOT YOU can't go past the Bossman. Glen Boss (right) has never won a premiership but he is a mile in front at the halfway mark this season. His best rides at Caulfield tomorrow appear to be First Command (R4, No.1), who is flying and loves Caulfield, Tuscan Fire (R5, No.4), who is in a rare purple patch, and Minnie Downs (R8, No.16), who will be flying home if the usual run-on pattern prevails late in the day. Matt Stewart HARNESS HOTSHOTS IF Ballarat boom horse Guaranteed (right) snares the Victoria Derby Final at Tabcorp Park tonight, another honour may soon be headed his way. Five of the past seven Derby winners have gone on to be named Australian Three-Year-Old of the Year. Divisive, Lombo Pocket Watch, Captain Joy, Sushi Sushi and Scandalman were all acknowledged as Australia's best classic-aged pacers after their wins. If punters are right, Guaranteed will follow in their footsteps tonight. The $1.65 TAB favourite for Melton's $200,000 co-feature, Emma Stewart's star will face resistance from Ohoka Punter, Bit Of A Legend, Flaming Flutter and Macha. HARNESS HOTLINE PAGE 41 TAB JACKPOTS TOMORROW night's A.G. Hunter Cup at Tabcorp Park, Melton, has a guaranteed First 4 pool of $100,000. The Grand Circuit event is set to go at 9.30pm. THE EARLY OIL 1 SPENDING (1) looked deadset classy winning up the straight on debut, defeating a handy lot. Tricky task here from wide gate but suspect might be too classy. Has Craig Williams on board. NADEEM LASS (5) still hasn't extricated herself from last week's traffic jam. Ran sixth, should have been right in finish. Should at least get a clear passage from barrier seven. ROYAL SCANDAL (2) has been winning weaker races but is an in- form Peter Moody runner at Caulfield and must be respected. SUGGESTED BET: Exacta 1-5. TAB FIXED ODDS MARKET MOVERS: Nadeem Lass, $5.50 into $4.60. 2 Tricky because the jungle drums have been beating for unraced POLITENESS (12), in the powerful and astute Robert Smerdon camp. Would have to be pretty good to defeat Darley's METASTASIO (10), who impressed winning up the straight. Showed startling turn of foot. Feel more comfortable going with the known rather than the unknown, so sticking with Metastasio. KONA BREEZE (11) stuck to her guns behind Metastasio at Flemington and will make her presence felt. Betting good lead, with some nicely bred first-timers engaged. SUGGESTED BET: Nil. TAB FIXED ODDS MARKET MOVERS: Nil. 3 Great race. HOSTING (6) was awesome on debut in August, bolting in a maiden at Mornington. Third- placed Livorno Express has won well since. Prepared to gamble that Hosting can defeat classy topweight ALBRECHT (1), who resumes and is arguably Darley's top autumn hope --- quite a wrap. No surprise if Albrecht --- with A-grade form around Epaulette and Kabayan --- proves too classy. No other chances. SUGGESTED BET: Exacta 6-1. TAB FIXED ODDS MARKET MOVERS: Royal Haunt, $5 into $4.80. 4 Keen on South Australian visitor AVOID LIGHTNING (4), who has been freshened since her flashing second at Moonee Valley in late December. Has excellent second-up stats and should be able to topple in-form topweight FIRST COMMAND (1) with a 6.5kg weight pull. First Command is all class, however, and has a knack of box- seating. CANALI (2) has speed and should run third. SUGGESTED BET: The win No.4, exacta 4-1. TAB FIXED ODDS MARKET MOVERS: Avoid Lightning, $3.50 into $3. 5 Great betting race. Keen on up-and- comers DURNFORD (12) and WHITE UNIVERSE (7). Durnford looked a smart work-in-progress staying type last time in and his two runs back have been excellent. Will relish the step to 2000m and will take a power of beating on the minimum weight. White Universe has also been knocking on the door and is extremely well placed. TUSCAN FIRE (4) will be well found but punters may be a bit nervous after stablemate British General failed to replicate his hot Flemington form at Caulfield last Saturday. Happy to risk at the price. Betting good lead with WESTSOUTHWEST (8), who has been racing OK without setting the world on fire. SUGGESTED BET: Rove 7 and 12 in multiples. TAB FIXED ODDS MARKET MOVERS: Elusive King, $4.50 into $4.20. 6 The key to courageous THE NEW BOY (11) breaking through for a much-deserved win should be that he can dictate here. At previous starts there's been something breathing down his neck but that won't be the case this time. Should break them up from the 600m and have race won on the turn. INFINITE ENERGY (12) is suited to drawing out and will be powerful late but will be giving The New Boy a big start. GOLD SAND (3), FUTURE SOLUTION (4), SNOW COVER (5), SUSSURO (8) and GAIL (7) should queue up for the minors. SUGGESTED BET: The win No 11. TAB FIXED ODDS MARKET MOVERS: Nil. 7 COSMIC CAUSEWAY (6) has a tricky gate but she flies second-up and at the track. He seems well placed. Hard to beat with the right breaks. DANY THE FOX (13) is a promising rapid improver and hard to beat, but he may be under the odds. NICONOISE (12) is enigmatic but good early in his preparation and gets in well with the claim. Reckon they are the three key chances for quaddies. SUGGESTED BET: Each-way No 6. TAB FIXED ODDS MARKET MOVERS: Nil. 8 Tricky and advise to go wide in the quaddie. If they're running on, wide- drawn GO KATRINA (4), MINNIE DOWNS (16) and MOTTO'S GEM (12) all have terrific chances at big odds. Go Katrina will improve significantly second- up. Minnie Downs and Motto's Gem will be strong late. Obvious chances to MOSSE DIVA (1) and DANISH WHISKEY (6). SUGGESTED BET: Go wide in quaddie 1,3,4,6,7,12,16,17. TAB FIXED ODDS MARKET MOVERS: Nil. MATT STEWART'S TIPS BEST BET: DURNFORD (R5, No.12) QUADDIE: 7,12 - 3,4,5,11,12 - 6,12,13 - 1,3,4,6,7,12,16,17. Cost: $100 for 41.66 per cent. BEST VALUE: COSMIC CAUSEWAY (R7, No.6) BIG 6: 1,6 - 1,4 - 7,12 - 3,4,5,11,12 - 6,12,13 - 1,3,4,6,7,12,16,17. Cost: $100 for 10.41 per cent.
